This index has been developed using name recognition software, and is currently incomplete. The software has generated an ‘exhibitor’ hit-rate of about 62%, which means that numerous catalogue entries by exhibiting artists have been missed, and that the names of some exhibiting artists do not appear at all. We hope to remedy this shortfall in future. At this point, it is recommended that users treat the index as a first port-of-call in tracking down individual artists and works; this research can be supplemented by consulting the indexes of the summer exhibition catalogues themselves.
